SOLUTION
Arrive at a Different Place was more than a brand relaunch. It was a one-night only immersive performance blending dance, theatre, and several mixed-media installations with the vibrant sounds and flavors inspired by the locales that comprise our global brand: Miami, Hong Kong, and Beijing. It was a story that unfolded across different spaces of East’s Miami hotel, and was made by a community of East’s alternative thinkers. To explore what it meant to Arrive at a Different Place, West of Here curated and produced DANI, a multi-sensorial, multilingual performance across multiple spaces in our Miami hotel. DANI told the story of an artist who left home in pursuit of realizing her dreams in Miami's glittering scene. Yet when she finds herself in the gateway city, she discovers a portal into a new culture, community, and way of being. Despite risking it all to find her truest self, she struggles to reconnect with those from her past while negotiating the potential for a future life that Miami holds. Ultimately, DANI must confront difficult questions as she realizes her authentic self in a world of endless possibilities. Working with a diverse cast of Miami and Los Angeles-based performers and musicians, audiences are invited to co-create an experience that spotlights the creative potential of Arriving at a Different Place. Approach: Presentation of new EAST logo as an AR experience, presenting a 'portal' into the three cities where the hotel has locations: Miami, Beijing, Hong Kong Additional integration of EAST logo into various F&B offerings Integration of the new EAST motto, "Arrive in a Different Place" into an immersive performance across four suites, the lobby, and two rooftop nightlife venues Multi-media projection installation integrating new brand assets and visual materials Four DJ sets with musicians from across the US + Mexico presenting sonic experiences that speak to "Arriving at a Different Place"
OBJECTIVE
Swire Hotels asked us to help curate a one-night only experience to engage their most VIP clients and frequent Miami guests in a unique brand relaunch, announcing their new logo and brand motto: Arrive at a Different Place
Approach
- Strategic Concepting: Defined an experiential storytelling arc aligned with EAST’s new logo and brand positioning.
- Immersive Performance: Commissioned and produced DANI, a multilingual, site-specific narrative told across multiple hotel spaces.
- Augmented Reality Installation: Debuted EAST’s new logo via an interactive AR portal connecting Miami, Hong Kong, and Beijing.
- Culinary Integration: Worked with inhouse culinary teams to weave the new identity into bespoke F&B offerings inspired by the three cities.
- Visual Storytelling: Developed large-scale projection installations that merged EAST’s new brand assets with collaged storytelling about the region.
- Music Curation: Presented four DJ sets from artists across the U.S. and Mexico, channeling the energy of global arrival points.
